DKIM, which is short for DomainKeys Identified Mail, is an authentication system, which hinders email addresses from being spoofed and email content from being modified. This is done by attaching an e-signature to every message sent from an address under a certain domain. The signature is generated based on a private cryptographic key that’s available on the outbound mail server and it can be validated using a public key, which is available in the global Domain Name System. Thus, any email with modified content or a spoofed sender can be identified by email service providers. This method will strengthen your web security tremendously and you’ll be sure that any email sent from a business ally, a bank, etc., is a genuine one. When you send emails, the receiver will also be sure that you are indeed the one who has sent them. Any email message that turns out to be phony may either be flagged as such or may never reach the receiver’s mailbox, based on how the given provider has chosen to cope with such email messages.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail feature is activated by default for all domains that are hosted in a hosting account on our cloud hosting platform, so you won’t have to do anything yourself to enable it. The only requirement is that the particular domain name should be hosted in a hosting account on our end using our NS and MX records, so that the e-mails will go through our mail servers. The private key will be created on the server and the TXT record, which includes the public key, will be published to the Domain Name System automatically, so you will not need to do anything manually on your end in order to activate this feature. The DomainKeys Identified Mail validation system will permit you to send credible e-mail messages, so if you’re sending a newsletter or offers to clients, for example, your emails will always reach their target destination, while unsolicited 3rd parties will not be able to spoof your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our semi-dedicated services come with DomainKeys Identified Mail activated by default, so in case you opt for a semi-dedicated hosting plan and you add a domain name using our name servers via your Hepsia Control Panel, the records required for the authentication system will be set up automatically – a private cryptographic key on our mail servers for the electronic signature and a TXT resource record carrying the public key for the DNS system. Since the protection is set up for a certain domain, all e-mail addresses created under it will have a signature, so you won’t have to worry that the messages that you send may not reach their target address or that someone may fake any of your addresses and try to spam/scam people. This may be really important when you use electronic communication in your business, since your colleagues and/or clients will be able to distinguish real emails from false ones.
